Annual Appeal 2023-2024

Dear Families, Friends, and Supporters,

As we enter Roxbury Weston Preschool’s 58th year, we are reminded of how truly special this program is. On April 23, 1965, Martin Luther King Jr. marched from Roxbury to the Boston Common to give a speech about the challenges of de facto segregation and imbalance in American schools. His speech inspired families from Roxbury and Weston to come together to form a collaborative day camp and preschool in which diversity and academic excellence were celebrated. It was the success of the Roxbury Weston Preschool program that helped convince the town of Weston to join the METCO program (a state-run voluntary desegregation program that busses children from Boston to suburban schools) in 1967. To this day, many of our Roxbury Weston Preschool graduates transition into Weston Public Schools via METCO.

Roxbury Weston Preschool remains the longest running, voluntarily integrated educational program in the country because of its incredibly supportive community. To ensure Roxbury Weston Preschool’s legacy continues well into the future, we are asking once again for your support in our Annual Appeal. The funds we receive allow us to provide free transportation to our Boston families and offer scholarships to families who qualify. This year we have set an ambitious goal of raising $50,000 through our Annual Appeal. We hope you will consider making a donation of any amount to help us reach this goal. Roxbury Weston Preschool is a special program which would not exist without your continued support.

You can donate to our Annual Appeal either by mail (remittance form ) or online: www.roxwes.org/donate.

Thank you again for your continued support.
